Ana Carolina Lourenço

Ana Carolina is a sociologist with over 10 years of experience in non-profit organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in the areas of democratic empowerment, gender and racial inequalities and socio-environmental justice. Before joining ICCI, Ana Carolina served as Brazil’s head of the Avina Foundation and as Program Officer for the Rapid Response Program of the Urgent Action Fund for Latin America and the Caribbean (FAU-LAC). She is currently a member of several boards and councils, such as the FGV's media and democracy council, the Rio de Janeiro City Council, Núcleo Ypykuéra’s board and the citizenship and democracy board of the Votorantim Group. Ana Carolina is also a co-founder of the Movimento Mulheres Negras Decidem and organizer of the book “A Radical Imaginação Política das Mulheres Negras Brasileiras (The Radical Political Imagination of Brazilian Black Women)”.
