At ICCI event, Luedji Luna reflects on building connection through her community
Luedji Luna, a Brazilian singer and songwriter who recently won a Latin Grammy, joined ICCI’s “Brazilian Audiences” event in Rio de Janeiro, where she reflected on building communication that doesn’t just reach people, but connects, mobilizes, and transforms.
On the panel “Imagining the Unspoken,” moderated by Ana Carolina Lourenço, ICCI’s programmatic director, Luedji shared how her creative process connects with listeners and opens space for deeper conversations.
“First, I had to find words for what I was feeling. My poetry, my voice, comes from a context of silence and not much space to express my desires.”
According to the artist, her creative process involves finding ways to give form to what people feel but don’t always know how to express, creating connection and, from there, opening space for conversation.
She also spoke about the role of social media in amplifying voices that once had limited reach and reflected on the relationship between communities and the people they connect with, inviting reflection on how to tell the story of this new self and this shared world as they continue to take shape.
“My audience was built, and I believe it still is, with my community. What I create is so true to me that it resonates in a genuine way, making people feel close,” she said.
The singer, who works to bring people together through spaces, gatherings and experiences, from parties to cultural projects, also reflected on her role in sustaining these connections and on the importance of collective efforts in supporting new narratives and a more diverse cultural scene.
